One of Weekend Getaway's favorite places is this awesome mini mountain and trail system that is nestled along the north shore of the lake and borders the edge of the city of Coeur d’Alene. What makes this place so unique is the fact that it’s a piece of natural forest situated literally in the middle of the city center just a few short minutes walk from downtown. I know there are a lot of beautiful nature paths in the world, but this is the only natural trail system that I've found that’s in the heart of a city and doesn’t involve any travel. There are endless amounts of activities to enjoy from this lakeside nature escape. Tubbs Hill isn’t small, it’s a 120 acre nature preserve in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The value of this little gem was clearly seen so it was set aside to be preserved back in 1960. Except for the necessary maintenance it’s been virtually untouched and is still enjoyed by residents and visitors year round to this day.
